Closing out the 2026 season

Hey Walden families,

I promise, only one more email from me as the 2026 season closes. First, I want to give everyone one more thank you for all of the help and support you provided this season. We had an amazing season because because of all of the help and support provided. The swimmers said they had a great season so our main goal was accomplished!

For those that were unable to attend the team party, the ribbon bin has been left with the lifeguards so you can pick up your ribbons and end-of-season medal the next time you are at the pool. Just ask the guards for the bin.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I will not be returning as team manager next season. I always have a lot going on at the end of the school season and trying to get the swim team set up for the upcoming season takes more time than I have to spare.

In discussing the transition with a few of you, it has been decided that the swim team is going to create a board that will operate the team going forward. That will allow more parents to be involved with the team moving forward. Heading the board will be my wife, Katie Higgins, who brings a tremendous amount of experience working on and running various boards, including serving as President of the Crofton Meadows PTO, and is already working on ideas to improve recruitment for next season.

Katie will be sending more information out as board positions are determined and as volunteer opportunities arise, so please be on the lookout for swim team updates. If you have any questions or things you'd like the board to discuss, feel free to email her at [email protected].

Thank you once again for a great season and I'll see you on the pool deck.

Jim Higgins
